The City of Port Phillip is a dynamic and diverse inner Melbourne municipality, celebrated for its creativity, coastal lifestyle, and commitment to environmental and social sustainability. Home to more than 100,000 residents and some of Victoria’s most iconic destinations – including St Kilda, South Melbourne, Port Melbourne, and Elwood; Port Phillip is a city that embraces innovation, inclusion, and community connection. With a vision to be a leading, liveable, and sustainable city, Council is focused on delivering services and infrastructure that enhance the everyday lives of its residents and visitors.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the General Manager City Infrastructure provides strategic and operational leadership across the Infrastructure Division, encompassing Waste and City Maintenance, Property and Assets, Project Delivery, and Procurement and Contract Management. This role leads a team of around 200 staff responsible for building, planning and maintaining the city’s $3.6 billion asset base, overseeing delivery of an annual $75 million capital works program, and embedding sustainable practices in every aspect of infrastructure, property, and service delivery.
A values-driven and collaborative leader, you will bring deep experience in infrastructure, asset, or operations management, ideally within complex government or service environments. You combine strategic insight with strong commercial and financial acumen, capable of leading transformation and driving operational excellence. Skilled in stakeholder engagement and governance, you are known for your integrity, courage, and ability to inspire teams to deliver for the community.
This is a rare opportunity to lead city-shaping infrastructure and contribute to a bold and sustainable future for Port Phillip.
